This policy explains what personal information Paras InfoGov collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It covers parasinfogov.com, including our blog and product pages. It does not cover our products once they are deployed for a customer, which are governed by the agreement we sign with that customer.

Who we are

Paras InfoGov is a Microsoft Purview consultancy based in Chennai, India. We provide consulting, training and software products to organisations. When this policy says “we”, “us” or “our”, it means Paras InfoGov.

What we collect and why

When you contact us

If you email us or book a meeting, we receive your name, email address, organisation and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to reply, to arrange and hold the conversation, and to keep a record of it. Meeting bookings are handled through Microsoft Bookings.

When you request a document

Some of our guides and briefs are available in return for your details. We ask for your name, organisation, job title, work email address and optionally your country. We record the date and time of the request and the IP address it came from, to prevent misuse. We use these details to send you the document, to understand which organisations are interested in our work, and to follow up with you about it. We only accept work email addresses for these requests.

When you subscribe to our updates

If you sign up for our updates, we keep your email address and any name you give us, and we send you new articles and occasional insight. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

When you comment on our blog

If you leave a comment we collect the name and email address you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and your browser details. Comments are checked for spam by an automated service before they appear. Your email address is never published.

When you browse the site

Like almost every website, our hosting provider records technical information about each visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. This is used to keep the site running securely and to diagnose problems. We do not currently use analytics or advertising tracking on this site. If we add analytics in future, it will only run if you have accepted non-essential cookies.

Our legal basis

Where data protection law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on the following.

• Consent for our email updates and for any non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests for replying to enquiries, sending documents you request, following up on those requests, running and securing the website, and preventing spam. We only rely on this where it does not override your own rights and interests.
• Contract where we need your information to provide services you have asked us for or are discussing with us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf:

• Hostinger, which hosts this website.
• Microsoft, which provides our email, meeting bookings and cloud services, including where requested documents are stored and sent from.
• MailPoet, which manages our email subscriber list and delivers our updates.
• Akismet, which checks blog comments for spam.
• Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used on this site. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.

We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.

International transfers

We are based in India and our service providers operate in several countries. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country you are in. Where that happens we rely on providers who apply recognised safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries and related correspondence: for as long as needed to deal with them, and then for up to three years so we have a record of the relationship.
• Document requests: for up to three years from the request, unless you become a customer.
• Email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
• Blog comments: for as long as the comment remains published.
• Technical logs: for the short period our hosting provider retains them, usually a few weeks.

We keep information longer only where the law requires us to.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
• ask us to delete your information;
• object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
• ask us to transfer it to you or to another organisation;
• withdraw any consent you have given.

To use any of these rights, email contact@parasinfogov.com. We will respond within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We keep them to a minimum. The first time you visit, we ask whether you accept non-essential cookies, and we remember your answer for twelve months. You can change your answer at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

Essential cookies

These are needed for the site to work and cannot be switched off.

• pig_consent records your cookie choice so we do not ask you again. It lasts twelve months.
• WordPress login cookies are set only for people who sign in to manage the site. Visitors do not receive them.

Functional cookies

• Comment cookies remember your name and email if you choose to save them when leaving a comment.
• Signup form cookies remember that you have already seen our email signup form, so it does not keep appearing.

Analytics and advertising cookies

We do not currently use any. If that changes, they will only be set after you accept non-essential cookies, and this policy will be updated first.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working properly.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections to this website and access controls on the systems that hold your details. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This website is intended for professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
